aside There Is A Sr. White House Official Who Is A Person Of Interest (The Trump-Russian Probe)

Image result for photos of president and his team in the white houseThe Washington Post has breaking news that there is a “Person of Interest” who is a senior official in the White House. The reporters are hard at work to determine who that person could be. We know the top of the list names, Steve Bannon, Reince Priebus, Jared and Ivanka Kushner, Sean Spicer, Stephen Miller, General H.R. McMaster and Rex Tillerson. We will have to wait on developing news to learn who is this person?

Here is the rest of the story…

On 5/19/17, Devlin Barrett and Matt Zapotosky of the Washington Post penned the following report, “Russia probe reaches current White House official, people familiar with the case say.”

Excerpts:

“The law enforcement investigation into possible coordination between Russia and the Trump campaign has identified a current White House official as a significant person of interest, showing that the probe is reaching into the highest levels of government, according to people familiar with the matter.”

Image result for photos of president and his team in the white house“The senior White House adviser under scrutiny by investigators is someone close to the president, according to these people, who would not further identify the official.”

“The revelation comes as the investigation also appears to be entering a more overtly active phase, with investigators shifting from work that has remained largely hidden from the public to conducting interviews and using a grand jury to issue subpoenas. The intensity of the probe is expected to accelerate in the coming weeks, the people said.”

“Flynn resigned in February after disclosures that he had lied to administration officials about his contacts with Russian ambassador Sergey Kislyak. Current administration officials who have acknowledged contacts with Russian officials include Trump son-in-law Jared Kushner, as well as Cabinet members Attorney General Jeff Sessions and Secretary of State Rex Tillerson.”

“People familiar with the investigation said the intensifying effort does not mean criminal charges are near, or that any such charges will result. Earlier this week, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein appointed former FBI Director Robert S. Mueller III to serve as special counsel and lead the investigation into Russian meddling.”

“It is unclear exactly how Mueller’s leadership will affect the direction of the probe, and he is already bringing in new people to work on the team. Those familiar with the case said its significance had increased before Mueller’s appointment.”

Image result for photos of the meetings with trump lavrov and kislyak“While the case began quietly last July as an effort to determine whether any Trump associates coordinated with Russian operatives to meddle in the presidential election campaign, the investigative work now being done by the FBI also includes determining whether any financial crimes were committed by people close to the president. The people familiar with the matter said the probe has sharpened into something more fraught for the White House, the FBI and the Justice Department — particularly because of the public steps investigators know they now need to take, the people said.”

“When subpoenas are issued or interviews are requested, it is possible the people being asked to talk or provide documents will reveal publicly what they were asked about.”

“A small group of lawmakers known as the Gang of Eight were notified of the change in tempo and focus in the investigation at a classified briefing on Wednesday evening (5/17/17), the people familiar with the matter said. FBI Director James Comey hadpublicly confirmed the existence of the investigation.”

“Justice Department spokeswoman Sarah Isgur Flores said, “I can’t confirm or deny the existence or non-existence of investigations or targets of investigations.” An FBI spokesman declined to comment.”

“White House spokesman Sean Spicer said, “as the president has stated before, a thorough investigation will confirm that there was no collusion between the campaign and any foreign entity.’’

“While there has been a loud public debate in recent days over the question of whether the president might have attempted to obstruct justice in his private dealings with FBI Director James Comey, who Trump fired last week, people familiar with the matter said investigators on the case are more focused on Russian influence operations and possible financial crimes.”

Several congressional committees are also investigating, though their probes could not produce criminal charges.”

“A grand jury in Alexandria, Va. recently issued a subpoena for records related to Flynn’s business, The Flynn Intel Group, which had been paid more than $500,000 by a company owned by a Turkish American businessman close to top Turkish officials, according to people familiar with the matter.”

“The Flynn Intel Group was paid for research on Fethullah Gulen, a cleric who Turkey’s current president believes was responsible for a coup attempt last summer. Flynn retroactively registered with the Justice Department in March as a paid foreign agent for Turkish interests.”

“Separately from the probe now run by Mueller, Flynn is being investigated by the Pentagon’s top watchdog for his foreign payments. Flynn also received $45,000 to appear in 2015 with Russian President Vladimir Putin at a dinner for RT, a Kremlin-controlled media organization.”

“Flynn discussed U.S. sanctions against Russia with Russia’s ambassador to the United States during the month before President Trump took office, and he withheld that fact from even the Vice President. That prompted then Acting Attorney General Sally Yates to warn the White House’s top lawyer he might be susceptible to blackmail.  Flynn stepped down after The Washington Post reported on the contents of the call.”

“The president has nonetheless seemed to defend his former adviser. A memo by fired FBI Director Comey alleged Trump even asked that the probe into Flynn be shut down.”

  1. I’ll go out on a limb and suggest that the persons initials are J.K.! As I am aware you don’t like to openly accept sources that do not provide good factual evidence, I will not provide my reason except to suggest vacation time in former Russian nations and Colorado, tied to actually FAA flight data. 😉
Note: The trip to Colorado was the first on record that tRump actually allowed anyone to use his own designated plane with out his presence…

    • Dear Crustyolemothman,

You could be right. He has accompanied Gen. Flynn to some meetings. In short, JK has met with Russians operatives.
I would place my money on SM.
      WE’LL FIND OUT SOON.

    • Dear Crustyolemothman and Kim,

Chris Matthews of the MSNBC Hardball show is thinking that the “person of interest” is Jared Kushner.

This can make family life very unpleasant.

    • Dear Crustyolemothman,

We would expect no less from DDT and his team. The good news is that the Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein will be the one to sign off on the waiver because the top dog, had to recuse himself.

The other ethics issue will be worked out in the courtroom. After DDT’s deeds are exposed, there will only one person worried about ethics rules and he needs to look at himself in the mirror.

  2. Dear Mz. Gronda,
Why do some alleged reporters for major news outlets post links to prove their point that do not do it at all? Is it because they know their primary audience will not actually go to the link and read what it says? I guess that I fail the test to be a faithful reader of their alt news, simply because I almost always read the link to understand how and why they take the path they follow.

“”The law governing the special counsel (28 CFR 600.7) specifically prohibits him from serving if he has a conflict of interest in the case.””

The mentioned law does not say that at all, the mention of conflict of interest is the reason that the Special Counsel is to be appointed and provides the requirements of appointing said Special Counsel. Because it is the opinion of the author of the article that Comey is guilty of a violation of law he assumes that because of prior work relationships with the SC there will be a conflict. However he seems to fail to realize that at this point and even into the future that Comey is unlikely to face charges that involve his performing the job he was paid to perform. Once again we see an effort by a political party to sway public opinion by using alt facts at best… I might point out that the article is an opinion piece masquerading as a news report, which MSN has pointed out, yet when I first looked at the article on FOX it was not indicated as such…

    • Dear Crustyolemothman,

Even the republican legislators who have been covering for DDT, will not jump on this band wagon. They see the polls. Anywhere from 73-78% of the population want an Independent Investigative commission.

Plus it would be mission impossible to question the integrity of Mr. Mueller. He is not Mr. Comey. Mr. Comey did CYA but Mr. Mueller has a history of not being susceptible to EXTREME pressure like when he took on the NFL. HE IS THE DEFINITION OF THE STRAIGHT ARROW.

My money is on Mr. Mueller, all the way.

  3. Gronda, the wheels on the bus are starting to come off. Reports are saying there are numerous leakers who are disillusioned about this President and worried about what might happen to them. They are finding their boss is not loyal to them, while he demands it from them. Keith

    • Dear Keith,

In my book, these leakers are a blessing. But now they should be really scared. Someone in the WH is a “person of interest” to where some may be drawn into a vortex where they may need their own lawyers.

I truly don’t know who this person is. I would be thinking Rex Tillerson if he would be considered as a Sr. official working in the WH.

      • Gronda, people are risking a great deal by leaking, but the sheer volume of leakers speaks to a combination of patriotism and protectionism as they fear future book writers who will lay bare the chaos, incompetence and corruption of this White House. Keith
