aside General Kelly Does Not Suffer Fools Easily

GENERAL KELLY

The republican President Donald Trump’s new Chief of Staff General John F. Kelly has a reputation for not suffering fools easily. If this is true, then the new Communications Director Anthony Scaramucci will be reporting to the general. And the general will not only have the final input on the president’s tweets but Mr. Scaramucci will have to review anything he will be talking about with the general. There will be discipline in the ranks.

It turns out that the Marine General has on his curriculum vitae, the position of liaison between his military branch and the US Congress representatives, but this is not enough experience for him to be interacting with the legislators over anything regarding policy. This duty will probably fall to the Vice President Mike Pence.

Oh yes, the Game of Thrones atmosphere at the White House where the president’s personnel are stabbing each other in the back and currying favor, should end. The president’s men are not there to entertain him, but TO SERVE the peoples of this country.

Now if General Kelly can accomplish the above tasks, he has a real chance to do great things. Why then, am I worried that the general has been assigned to a suicide mission?

Here is the rest of the story…

On July 29, 2017, Andrew deGrandpre of the Washington Post penned the following report, “John Kelly, Trump’s new chief of staff, ‘won’t suffer idiots and fools.’

Excerpts:

“Twelve days after Donald Trump’s election victory, the president-elect asked John Kelly to meet with him at the stately Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, N.J., to discuss the roles of secretaries of State and Homeland Security.”

“It was a small gathering. Present was Reince Priebus, the Republican Party chair who later became White House chief of staff, a post that he resigned this week. Also attending was Steve Bannon, Trump’s chief strategist. Kelly, like other retired generals, impressed the president-elect, enough so that soon he’ll leave his post atop the Department of Homeland Security to replace Priebus in the West Wing.”

“That meeting last November launched what has become one of the president’s most important relationships within his beleaguered administration. He likes Kelly. He trusts Kelly. But what remains to be seen is whether Trump will listen to him as Kelly seeks to bring order to a White House beset by chaos.”

“After it was announced that Priebus would be leaving, a friend of the Homeland Security secretary told The Washington Post that Kelly, a tough talking Bostonian who spent 45 years in the Marines, is ideally suited to confront the challenges he’ll face.”

“He knows how to do this: with common sense and good leadership,” said Kelly’s longtime friend, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to offer frank opinions. “He won’t suffer idiots and fools.”

“But Kelly did not gel with the previous administration, and his military career ended on a sour note in January 2016 after he repeatedly clashed with the Obama White House.”

“Officials there had grown tired of the four-star general speaking off message — about the president’s plan to shut down the prison in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, about the perceived vulnerability of America’s borders, about the threat posed to American interests by any number of terrorist organizations. Their relationship had become so strained that in the weeks before he retired, multiple administration officials went to the media and accused Kelly and other military leaders of endeavoring to undermine the Guantánamo closure plan.”

“At Bedminster, Trump and Kelly discussed the general’s diplomatic experience and the security concerns about which both men remain deeply passionate.”His final job in the military, as head of U.S. Southern Command in Miami, gave Kelly deep insight into the criminal networks ravaging South America, Central America and the Caribbean, and their illicit trafficking pipeline — for drugs, guns and people — running north through Mexico and into the United States. He has long argued that transnational organized crime is among the greatest threats to U.S. national security.”

“As Kelly moves to the West Wing, he’ll likely move quickly to confront the “reality television show that runs on a raucous mix of drama, machismo and suspicion,” as The Post’s White House team characterized it Thursday (7/27/17). A big piece of that will be addressing leaks and the president’s portrayal in the media.”

“There’s a way to handle it,” Kelly’s friend said. “Simply go dark and do not engage.”

    • Dear Kim,

It will not be pretty. He is going to have to put his foot down at the start, otherwise he is toast. It would be better for him to walk out now, rather than not have his demands succeed.

    • Dear Suzanne,

This is another case of , stay tuned folls. Soon, the Congress will be going on recess, and most of us are deservedly nervous over what DDT will try to do. I am hoping that he goes on vacation. That way, “we the People” get one too.

Thanks a million for all of your support and for this reblog.

  1. Kelly accepted joining ranks with this idiot Prez in the beginning. He knew what he was getting into. After almost 8 months, there’s no reason for him to not be aware of the mess in the WH. I can’t see him controlling this gang of goons!
I gave no sympathy for Kelly.
I’m not wishing him succeeds either. I hope, at the risk of sounding bitter and ‘bad’, that he gets another ‘stab in the back’ as the ones that have been fired already.
This administration needs to be perceived as the failure & carnival it is so that there are grounds for ‘excision’ of this cancer! There … my two bitter cents! 😱

    • Dear Horty,

It is too easy to be bitter and it is certainly understandable if not warranted. But for me, if General Kelly does not succeed in bringing some order to this WH chaos to mitigate and minimize any harm that DDT is more than capable of doing on impulse, then the harm on US peoples can be much worse.

But I don’t hold out much hope for him succeeding in this circus. With rare exception, anyone of any stature working in the WH will find their reputations diminished on the way out. I wonder if Sean Spicer will write a book on his experience. He would make a fortune. The one person who might survive this reality show, intact is General Mattis.

  2. I have read so much informed, incisive and mature exasperation at antics in the Whitehouse that sometimes I go opposite and find myself in flippant mode.
So sorry about this, I just can’t help myself…..
A general has taken an important position as Chief of Staff during a turbulent political time.
Have any of them in the Whitehouse seen the film or read the book ‘Seven Days in May’?
Or there again someone may have been reading biographies of Eisenhower and is looking for a longer game.

    • Dear John W. Howell,

      WELCOME!

That is so true LOL. But then there are some who are bigger fools than others and I would categorize the president and Mr.Scaramucci as being super huuuuuuuuuuuuge ones.

Thanks for stopping by and ciao, Gronda
