In 2013, I had started to become painfully aware of a strain of racism that had permeated the republican party to where I finally left it in 2016. It started with the Trayvon Martin case. There were too many in my former party (2012-2013) who were propping up George Zimmerman as a hero when any sensible person could see that he was a very flawed character. Then there was the demonizing of Trayvon Martin as a pot smoking thug when he was just a kid walking home from a store. When George Zimmerman was declared “not guilty” by a Florida jury, a Pew poll indicated that the vast majority White older republicans favored this vote. This was my wake-up call.

Along came the democrat President Barack Obama (2008-2016). I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had to push back on fellow republicans when they would spout their talking points, like how he was a Muslim, born in Kenya and not really an American. With rare occasions, did “we the people” hear FOX TV folks, and/ or republican leaders/ lawmakers out-rightly and firmly denouncing this talk?

And it was the republican President Donald Trump who was the number one marketer-in-chief of the “birtherism” myth against President Barack Obama questioning his American citizenship. The myth alleged that President Obama had been really born in Kenya and not in Hawaii? How many republicans did “we the people” hear denouncing this talk? The silence was deafening.
There have been numerous other signals. Even today, Republicans have been frequently attempting to define the Black Lives Matter movement as a hate group which is definitely “fake news.” They are echoing right wing pundits like FOX TV hosts who have been describing the “Black Lives Matter” movement as a hate group since its inception, instead of a minority group trying to garner attention to wrongs being done in their communities by law enforcement and the judicial system.

It had became obvious that the FOX TV anchors had obtained their marching orders to signal support to their audience with racist leanings. They never provided context, that the “Black Lives Matter” protesters were simply raising the consciousness of injustices being ignored in their neighborhoods by the world-at-large which had nothing to do with the promotion of violence/ hate against police and/ or that many have police as family members.
During the month of August 2017, events starring the republicans’ standard bearer President Trump, have highlighted a glaring light as to how the sin of racism has permeated our American culture and the republican party.

On the evening of August 25, 2017, “we the people” learned from the news media that President Trump had pardoned his buddy in spreading the “birther” lie against President Obama, Sheriff Joe Arpaio, an anti-immigration activist who had been criminally charged for acting outside of his authority by illegally profiling Latinos for detention in Arizona.
This presidential step was taken only after President Trump had already publicly revealed his racist leanings in mid- August 2017 by equating alt-right hate groups like neo-Nazis with those who oppose them. He has also ordered a ban, which would end transgender individuals from being able to sign up for military service; but only after he had threatened a government shut down if the US Congress did not approve funding for his southern wall. The latest news, broken by NBC, indicates that the president has been giving serious consideration to ending the DACA program, which allows undocumented young peoples who have never known any other country than the USA, to not be subject to deportation.
Even after all the recent events, too many in the republican party would like to portray that the impact of racism on the America culture as being exaggerated all out of proportion with what’s real.
This republican talking point does not bear up to scrutiny. Racism is such a virulent, insidious disease that has been spreading its ugly tentacles throughout the republican party to where racist hate groups, now feel emboldened. It is not by accident that leaders of these hate groups have been openly praising President Trump. This ugliness has been allowed to flourish because republicans don’t want deal with the reality of racism in their party that they have allowed to flourish, unchecked.

THE REPUBLICAN PARTY HAS LOST ITS MORAL COMPASS WHICH IN TURN CREATED THE PERFECT ENVIRONMENT FOR A PRESIDENT TRUMP TO EMERGE TRIUMPHANT. OUT OF FEAR OF LOSING A FEW RACIST VOTES, REPUBLICAN LAWMAKERS ARE CONTINUING TO BETRAY OUR GREAT COUNTRY FOR 30 PIECES OF SILVER.

Watch this 8/27/17 CNN video link which demonstrates how republicans refuse to accept racism as a real issue versus “fake news” promoted be democrats.

It seems there’s a longing for the days of the deep South and a return to slave owning amongst the Republican Plantation Owners, at least that’s what their moral compass indicates. Maybe a return to the days before the States became United.
I’m so glad there are indications that some people saw the writing on the wall and left the Republican party rather than be counted as part of it any more. Just not enough maybe.

Dear David Prosser,
I just attended another democratic party meeting. We had a new attendee like me who left the republican party to become a democrat. It is becoming a more frequent event.
Yes, DDT just wants to “make this country white” again.

It seems the waters are being purposely muddied. I’d advise people to stay away from public rallies. Someone else is going to get hurt or killed one of these days. No one but idiots who like confrontation wants to see fights break out. DT just repeats past remarks and rants, working people up. These so-called rallies are just ego builders and venues for self-justification and spreading hate. They threaten to cause violence. We have enough trouble. I wonder how many people would have shown up if the other speakers hadn’t been at the rally in Phoenix. —- Suzanne

Dear Suzanne,
You are so right.
I’ve become suspicious about something else.I was at the Washington DC”s Womens’ March. I had a discussion with a professional protester (just means she participated in many) and she mentioned that the only violence which occurred had happened the day before, President Trump’s inauguration date. She said she and others who went regularly to protests did not know who these peoples were.
It isn’t until recently that I learned that these pro esters were “Antifa” members. Yet I and other bloggers had never heard of this group. I’ve talked to democratic members who were unaware of this group.
The fact, that this group appeared out of nowhere just to show up at the president’s inauguration, bothers me.

Antifa is now becoming known. They’re defined by Wikipedia as being a political movement of autonomous self-styled anti-fascist groups. They fought with the KKK, Neo-Nazis, and White Supremacists in Charlottesville. They were no doubt the one’s DT saw fighting on TV. He misinterpreted who they were because they’re not as well known. From what I understand they came there looking for a fight. —- Suzanne

Dear Suzanne,
It just troubles me that prior to this month, I did not know of this group’s existence. But if I backtrack on right wing websites, their editors have been covering their existence starting around January 2017.
