aside Hear The Children’s Cries As They Are Separated From Parents Seeking Asylum At US SW Border

Thanks to the media outlet Propublica, we have access to the above video. Please be aware that the sound of the children’s wailing as they are being separated from their parents seeking asylum at the US southwest border, are heartbreaking.

This is a new protocol that was started with President Donald Trump’s Attorney General Jeff Sessions with his April 6, 2018 memo. As per Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC), the president can end this practice of separating children from the parents with one phone call. Telling the migrants to apply for asylum at the US designated points of entry is not a realistic direction as most peoples are being turned away. There are stories about peoples waiting weeks to gain entry.

As per international law, it is NOT illegal for peoples fleeing danger, persecution, war like circumstances, to ask for asylum.

Any other republican talking point other than the above facts are misleading.

It’s time for us who are part of the resistance, to contact our US Congress representatives to hold them accountable for their lack of action. Please include discussion about the president’s April 6, 2018 memo via the Attorney General Jeff Sessions where he’s ordering the separation of children from parents seeking asylum at the US southwest border. President Trump can alter this practice with one phone call. Asking refugees to apply for asylum only at designated points of entry is not a realistic direction as most are turned away, only to wait for weeks to gain entry.

Here is the rest of the story…

On June 18, 2018, Richard Fausset of the New York Times penned the following report, Immigrant Children Cry Out in Audio Recorded at Detention Center”

Excerpts:

“Mami!” the children’s voices cry out, between sobs. “Papá!”

“A recording of immigrant children calling out desperately for their parents after being separated from them by United States immigration authorities was released on Monday 6/18/18 by the investigative news site ProPublica.”

“The recording, nearly eight minutes in length, added disturbing and intimate notes to the debate over the Trump administration’s policy of separating children from their parents when families are detained at the border.”

“ProPublica said in an article accompanying the audio clip that it was recorded last week inside a U.S. Customs and Border Protection detention center. Ten Central American children who were separated from their parents by immigration authorities are heard in the clip, along with some adults.”

“The news service said the recording was provided to Jennifer Harbury, a civil rights lawyer, by a person who wished to remain anonymous. Ms. Harbury then provided the recording to ProPublica.”

“At one point, a child identified in the article as a 6-year-old Salvadoran girl is heard asking someone to call her aunt. “My mommy says that I’ll go with my aunt,” she says in Spanish. “

“At another point, a voice belonging to a man identified by ProPublica as a Border Patrol agent speaks over the crying children. “Well, we have an orchestra here,” the man says. “What’s missing is a conductor.”

  1. Gronda…many of the people being arrested are here as asylum seekers. They are coming across the border legally, making application then being seperated as we have “no way of knowing if they are true family members”. Joe Kennedy was speaking about it just a few moments ago.

  2. Dear Suze,

The White House anti-immigration zealots like Stephen Miller and General John Kelly along with the Attorney General Jeff Sessions, the spokesperson Sarah Huckabee Sanders and the DHS Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen are all lying about what is happening at the US southern border.

I’ve been hearing the same stories as what Joe Kennedy is saying.

  3. Dear Kim,

This is maddening for all of us. Tomorrow, I am calling more lawmakers. There is organizing by “Families Belong Together” for major protests to occur on June 30.

But this is so anger provoking. Thanks for doing a great job in listing all the organizations which are helping with this outrageous tragedy created by the White House.

    • Dear 1EarthUnited,

This time President Trump is not getting away with his lies except with that anti-immigration republicans who are a major part of his base. Of course that is the group of folks that the president is catering to in order to maintain their support.

Thanks for the reference/ Seth Meyers’ video.

    • Dear Jill,

This outrage of the children being abused by this president has me paralyzed with anger and a feeling of powerlessness. So many want to do something but there is little we can do besides contacting our US lawmakers, joining in protests and donating monies.

There have been his racist attitudes in full display at the Charlottesville Va right wing rally, his cavalier treatment of the humanitarian disaster in Puerto Rico; his insensitive treatment of gold star families of color; and now his abuse of children.

Thanks a million times over for all of your support and for this reblog.

      • I, too, feel powerless, and in fact we nearly ARE, for our elected representatives refuse to REPRESENT us! One of my readers suggested this audio should be played 24/7 in both the Oval Office and the halls of Congress. I fully agree! Where does his autocracy, his cruelty end? When do even the republicans in Congress finally say “ENOUGH!” I wish I knew.
        Hugs!!!

    • Dear Horty,

Can you believe that the president thinks he is winning with this policy of separating children from parents who are just trying to save their children’s lives by seeking asylum at the US SW border?

This is the face of evil. I can’t condone anyone who supports this man or any republican who backs and covers for him.

A heartrending post that includes a recording of the detained and traumatized children begging to see parents and relatives. This is similar to the detained American Japanese in the U.S. during WWII. The children, now adults, have never forgotten the lasting effects it had on them.

    • Dear Suzanne,

This is similar to how the Japanese were detained in the USA during WWII. The victims have never forgotten this horror and this has been a black mark on the American soul. This abuse of children will have similar effects.

But we can’t allow this to continue.

      • I heard on CNN that the document President Trump signed with such a fanfare said “nothing” about reuniting the present children held apart from their parents with those parents. It looks like we have to keep up the fight before the parents are deported and possibly “never” see their children again. 😦 — Suzanne

        • Dear Suzanne,

That is just one problem. We don’t know if the government has plans or the know-how to reunite families. This story/ mess still has legs because we are dealing with a president we can’t trust as his heart is not in this.

    • Dear GettingrealwithPTSD,

      WELCOME!

That many of these children will be suffering from PTSD is a given along with their parents. I also worry about the guards and others who still have a heart, working with these families, as they have to be suffering as well.

    • Dear Lifelessons,

WELCOME! For all those who did call our US lawmakers, THANK YOU…You helped to make a difference.

The president doing a reversal does not mean that we can rest on this immigration issue. There still has to be reunification between the parents and their separated children.

Thanks a million times over for your support by sharing this post with your reblog.

If you want an easy way to contact your senator or representative or other congressmen about the issue of separating children from their parents at the border, it is given at the end of this heartbreaking posting of the sounds of children being taken from their parents and descriptions of those who have witnessed the process. We all need to be responsible to DO SOMETHING!!!!

  9. Matthew 25 v 41-45.
41Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.
42 For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink,
43 I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.’

44 “They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’

45 “He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’

    Matthew 18 V 6
But who so shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea.

    • Dear Roger,

You have obviously targeted the bible verses that some so called Evangelical Christians are ignoring if they continue to support President Trump with his anti-immigration policies.

I am personally convinced that there will be atheists in Heaven before some of these Christians because those who follow the above teachings will gain entry. The so called Christians who don’t will be turned away because they were supposed to know these teachings.

      • Hi Gronda.
Normally I try to avoid Biblical quotes since someone will come up with another verse to counter the one you quoted or go off track and start a rant on the whole subject.
However is this case the injustice & callousness is so palpable and the Evangelical Right so silent when normally fond of picking their bits out of the Bible.
When the ‘Roll is call up Yonder’, they’ll just have to take their place in the queue like the rest of us sinners and like the rest of us have some explaining to do.
