Dear Resistance Participants: Give Those GOP In US House Judiciary Committee, HELL!

Yesterday, on the 28th of June 2018, I witnessed a horror reality show being played out by the GOP members of the US House Judiciary Committee as they behaved unhinged, unglued, deranged and definitely unprofessional while they hurled questions, insults, barbs as they faced the FBI Director Christopher Wray and the Deputy Director Rod Rosenstein.

This was not a fact finding mission. This was an abuse of power as Mr. Rosenstein was accused of lying under oath, hiding information while deliberately delaying/ slow walking/ not acceding to their demands for volumes of documents. I recall one incident in particular, where Rep. Trey Gowdy snarlingly demanded that the Deputy Assistant Director Rod Rosenstein wrap up this FBI investigation as 18 months was way too long. Mr. Rosenstein has been responsible for the oversight duties for the FBI’s Trump Russia probe being led by the Special Counsel Robert Mueller III. This is the same Rep. Trey Gowdy who chaired a 2 1/2 year investigation into Hillary Clinton’s email handling while she was the US Secretary of State from 2009-2013 with no results.

Anyone who views a rerun of this hearing will be in shock as to the degree of disrespectful  conduct that was on full display. Any pretense at objectivity was thrown out the window.

The FBI Director Christopher Wray and the Assistant Deputy Director Rod Rosenstein acted with total decorum while they withstood what could be describes as an inquisition.

These US House Judiciary Committee GOP members made those republicans in the US House Intelligence Committee headed by the chair Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA) look like amateurs as too how low they could go in attacking the rule of law, the DOJ and the FBI in order to protect their leader at the helm, the republican President Donald J. Trump.

Those on the House Judiciary Committee acted so bonkers to where they signaled to the world that they know just how devastating the FBI’s Trump-Russia inquiry’s findings will be which could do real damage to the Republican Party.

As per the 6/28/18 CBS News report: “Ranking (Democratic) Member Rep. Jerry Nadler, D-New York, slammed Goodlatte for calling an emergency hearing for the IG report’s findings, and not on more pressing issues for the committee to provide oversight on, like the administration’s “zero tolerance” policy at the U.S. border. ”

“Have we conducted any oversight at all on election security? The administration’s failure to protect DREAMERs?” Nadler asked in his remarks. “On all other issues the committee stays silent — on Hillary Clinton’s emails, sound the alarms,” he added. ”

“Nadler said that the committee is wasting “precious time” to “chase Hillary Clinton yet again.”

  1. I see the Repubs are highly motivated to wrap up this investigation with any means necessary… before the Nov elections. Good to see how patient SC Mueller is, he should also be afforded 2.5 years, same as Hillary’s email investigation. Fair is fair, this process should not be rushed, the truth will prevail in due course.

    • Dear Suzanne,

It was an outrageous contrived performance. These representatives have completely lost my respect. The way they beat up two decent public civil servants was brutal to watch.

Thanks a million again for all of your support and for this reblog.

      • Dear 1EarthUnited,

Both sides want the FBI’S Trump-Russia probe over as soon as possible. The longer it lasts, the worse it is for President Trump. FBI Special Counsel Robert Mueller is highly ethical. If he didn’t have solid evidence by now, he would have ended this already.

What’s coming down the pike does not bode well for President Trump and his family.

        • Agreed that SC Mueller should be as thorough as humanly possible. But why should the Dems acquiesce and close out the investigation prematurely? Besides, anything short of impeachment would be considered a failure! as you noted astutely, Ms Clinton was not afforded the luxury of a speedy investigation, all the while her reputation was dragged thru the mud by Mr. Gowdy. I say let Mr. Mueller do his job, however long it takes to get it done!

  2. Gronda, I called Rep. Jordan and Gowdy and sent an email to my Congressman. I closed with the recommendation of George Will to vote against the GOP. George Will. This speaks volumes. Keith

    • Dear Keith,

Thanks for calling both these representatives. I sent out some short notes. Somehow these representatives have to know this treatment of good decent public servants is unacceptable. This is not how I want my tax dollars spent.

    • Dear Roger,

Democracy is at work again. These representatives need to pay a price for their outrageously bad behaviors. Of course the US House of Representatives cannot begin to compete with your House of Commons..

Thanks for your kind words of encouragement.

      • Thank you Gronda. My pleasure.
Apparently the formidable LBJ when reading about the House of Commons and its organisation used to say about British Prime Ministers ‘All that power. All that power,’
On the other side of the coin there is a story of the problems of the ruling party. As you will know The House of Commons is arranged with rows of benches opposite each other with the Prime Minister of their Ministers sitting in the front row (Hence the title of a minister being on ‘The Front Bench’); the opposition party being on the other side.
So the story goes an experienced Front Bench Minister is showing a newly elected minister where they should sit, then says
        ‘Now where are the enemy?”
‘Why the enemy,’ says the young minster eagerly. ‘Is there!’ gesturing to the opposite side.
‘No,’ says the old hand and gestures to the opposite side ‘Those are the Opposition,’ he then turns around and gestures to where their own Members of Parliament sit who are not on the ministerial team ‘There is the enemy,’

        • Gives you a fair idea of British Politics.
One rule of the Labour Party, is that anyone who is voted in as leader will promptly attract a wing of labour supporters who will label them as a betrayer of true socialism and sure to bring ruin to the party. (I’ve done it myself)

  3. Just a note to say, expect Mueller to announce his findings late September to early October. It will become part of the campaign, and though I hope I am wrong, don’t be surprised when Mueller finds nothing to indict the Jackass for. It will clear Trump’s path to maintaing a majority in at least one house.

    • Dear Rawgod,

You could be right but I am betting on the FBI Special Counsel Robert Mueller III. He is the exact opposite of President Trump. What I’m worried about is the next Supreme Court justice.

The Federalist Society provided 20 names for Trump to consider but President Trump added 5 more. I will be reviewing the background of each candidate to see if any of them clerked for Justice Kennedy. There is more to this story but I’m still doing research.

      Hugs, Gronda
