Rich Men Behaving Badly: Jeffrey Epstein, R. Kelly, Robert K. Kraft

This February 2019 has been a bad month for rich well connected men behaving badly.

The headliners have been the mega billionaire Jeffrey Epstein; the N.F.L. team owner, Robert Kraft and R&B singer/ superstar R. Kelly.

It looks like the lid is being raised on a 2008 sweetheart plea-deal agreement on behalf of the mega billionaire Jeffrey Epstein who had been trafficking for years in 100s of underage girls for sexual favors for himself and friends, which was negotiated by no less than the current Labor Secretary Alex Acosta, a former US Miami prosecutor and defense attorneys like Kenneth Starr and Alan Dershowitz.

The sweetheart deal included 13 months of jail time where a car picked up Mr. Epstein each day and then returned him back to the jail in the evening, but he did have to register as a sex offender. Eleven years later, on February 21, 2019 a federal court justice ruled that the Miami prosecutors broke the law by misleading and by deliberately not sharing the information about the ongoing status of the plea deal negotiations with the victims as required by the federal statute, Crime Victims’ Rights Act.

The judge stopped short of voiding the original plea agreement. Instead, he ordered the attorneys to work something out that was satisfactory to the victims within a 15 day period. There have been US Congressmen calling for the US Department of Justice to conduct an investigation as to how it came to be, that Mr. Epstein was granted such a great deal for heinous crimes that anyone else could never have dreamed of obtaining.

The question that I have is, were Mr. Epstein’s co-conspirators covered by this 2008 plea agreement?

R. Kelly…

Another rich dude who has been getting away for years with the sexual abuse of young girls is the famous R&B singer R. Kelly until the 22nd of February 2019, when he was arrested at a Chicago airport. In 2008, he underwent a court trial where he was charged with being in possession of child pornography, but the jury did NOT render a guilty verdict.

Those charges stemmed from a video, prosecutors alleged, showed Kelly having sex with a girl as young as 13 but it seems that the jurists acquitted R. Kelly because they could not clearly identify the parties involved on the tape.

This time in February 2019, there is a tape that clearly shows Mr. R Kelly in the starring role. This arrest follows numerous young victims who were not believed for well over a decade.

“R. Kelly’s attorney says the singer is “shell-shocked” by the aggravated sexual abuse indictment against him and plans to turn himself in to authorities Friday night.”

“Avenatti said at a Friday news conference in Chicago that the video shows two separate scenes on two separate days at Kelly’s residence at the time during the late 1990s. Avenatti says during the video both the victim and Kelly reference her age 10 times.”

“Avenatti says he represents six clients, including two victims, two parents and two people who he describes as “knowing R. Kelly and being within his inner circle for the better part of 25 years.”

“(Attorney Michael) Avenatti spoke at a news conference in Chicago on the same day prosecutors announced 10 counts against the Grammy Award-winning singer. Avenatti said he represents six people in the case, whom he described as two victims, two parents and two “whistleblowers” who may have been members of Kelly’s inner circle.”

He says some of Kelly’s associates over the years should also be charged because they “looked the other way” when girls were assaulted “because they didn’t want to kill the golden goose.”

2 p.m.

“A Chicago judge has authorized a no-bail arrest warrant for R. Kelly, after the R&B singer was charged with 10 counts of aggravated sexual abuse.”

“Judge Dennis Porter signed the order. No-bail arrest warrants don’t necessarily mean the defendant won’t eventually be offered bail.”

“The charges filed Friday list four victims, including at least three between the ages of 13 and 17. The victims are listed only by initials in the document. They date back to at least 1998.”

Chicago prosecutors have charged R&B star R. Kelly with 10 counts of aggravated sexual abuse, according to media reports citing court records.

Friday’s charges come after years of allegations directed at Kelly, accusing the now 52-year-old of sexual misconduct involving women and underage girls. Through his lawyers, he has consistently denied them.

Kelly, whose legal name is Robert Kelly, is one of the top-selling recording artists of all time. He has won multiple Grammys, including for his hit-song, “I Believe I Can Fly.”

Attorney Michael Avenatti said last week that he recently gave Chicago prosecutors new video evidence of Kelly having sex with an underage girl.

Finally, there is the 77 year old owner Robert K. Kraft of the Super Bowl champion New England Patriots who was charged on Friday (2/22/19) with two counts of soliciting sex as part of a wide-ranging investigation into prostitution and human trafficking in Florida. The police in Jupiter, Fla., used video surveillance that showed Kraft inside a massage parlor that, the police said, was used for selling sex. Yes, he is on tape doing whatever he was doing.

Personally, I’d be surprised if he doesn’t sign off on a plea agreement that would take at the most, 15 minutes for local prosecutors to craft.

The big question is, How will the N.F.L. Commissioner Roger Goodell, who has been in charge of meting out disciplinary measures since 2006 will deal with this misbehaving owner?

    • Dear Sotomayor111,

These rich dudes just can’t seem to stay out of trouble with the ladies. It’s like a sickness. Thanks a million for all your support and for this reblog.

  1. Gronda, sexually assaulting children who can be easily influenced is a heinous crime. It should disturb us that Epstein knows the President who has been at his residence with under age girls. While the one accusation of Trump by the then thirteen year old girl went away, likely by settlement, it was alleged. Keith

    • Dear Keith,

I keep hoping that somehow the victim who was allegedly sexually abused by President Trump when she was 13 at one of those Epstein parties will get her day of justice. There were men and maybe one woman who were co conspirators who have never faced justice.

Alan Dershowitz is still working to keep the lid on this story. Around March 6, there’s supposed to be a hearing due to members of the press having filed a request to unseal some records related to this Epstein case, but Mr. Dershowitz is trying to block them. Let’s hope the press succeeds.

  2. I think if the public knew the depth of this whole sordid story of not only Epstein, but all of trump’s sexual “activities”, we would be even more appalled. I also bet you a dollar there is sex trafficking going on and participating in. There is big money there just like illegal drugs and no taxes.

And we think some Mexicans and Guatemalians wanting a better life is a problem in the country!

Drugs, child trafficking, prostitution, money laundering, corporate corrupt profiteering and arms manufacturing..wow what a great country and trump and his cronies and cult are sure making America great again…for them….well not the cult.

Trump and his cult are in a vicious evil circle.

He and some of the republicans use ignorance of the cult for votes. They placate them with fear and hatred.
But then the cult turns around and threatens them with loss of votes, if they don’t push their religious and racist agendas. The republicans have made a deal with the devil….the cult own them.

    • Dear Mary,

At this point, I can’t help but wonder about anyone who continues to support this man. I’m thinking that your description of them taking on the cloak of a cult is the best explanation.

I look at President Trump as one mentally flawed gentleman who is so far gone that he can hardly help himself. He requires enablers and/ or co-dependents to keep him afloat. His family and the GOP sycophants fill these roles.

He and his family are all highly dysfunctional. He encourages a chaotic work place. And we are living in a country that’s dysfunctional in how its being governed.

But we are the majority who are not blinded by the evil and/ or admirers of those who would refuse to act to end this evil but who, instead, chose the route of appeasement.
