Was PM Netanyahu’s epic failure over the Oct 7 massacre, inadvertent or even deliberate?

UNTIL TRUMP, AFTER 1978, US POLICY HAD BEEN THAT ANY INCURSIONS INTO PALESTINIAN TERRITORY BASED ON 1967 MAP WEREN’T LEGAL.

The Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is presiding over a war in Gaza whose objectives to eliminate HAMAS could well be unrealistic and irreconcilable. In 2023, he still remains a defendant in three separate corruption cases. After his surprising comeback as Israel’s Prime Minister in November 2022 by aligning himself solely with extreme right politicians and despite their numerous efforts, he and his extreme right-wing colleagues have so far failed to successfully legislate their desired judicial reforms and an amendment which amounts to a “free get out of jail card,” if the prime minister is found guilty of any criminal wrongdoing. All their proposed laws are currently under review by Israel’ supreme court and there are no plans for it to render any decisions in the near future.

The above described trials were in process as of October 2023, but a temporary halt was put into place while Israel has been conducting its attacks against HAMAS in Gaza. Prior to the October 7, 2023 massacre against Israel by HAMAS, PM Netanyahu’s polls were already in the tank after the mass protests that occurred earlier this year because of his controversial bid to grab power from Israel’s judiciary.

Cartoons/caricatures on the Jewish War against Iran - Radio Islam

It’s well known that the terrorist organization in Gaza is backed by Iran and that the Israeli PM Netanyahu has long been a fan of involving the US in an attack against Iran.

Questions that can’t wait for answers:

How is it Hamas had in its possession detailed data on how to attack over 60 targets within Israel, when much of this information isn’t public knowledge? So, how is it that this high level of intelligence ended up in the hands of HAMAS?

How is it that so specific a 40-page report detailing HAMAS plan of attack had been in the possession of Israeli intelligence for over a year prior to the OCT 7 massacre, but Israeli leaders hadn’t been sufficiently alarmed, enough to raise multiple red flags in real time?

Gaza

How is it that Israeli soldiers had been collecting and sharing intel within weeks of the October 7, 2023 massacre in Israel which described war-like military maneuvers and training in full view along the Gaza border by HAMAS that were ignored by the Israeli decision makers?

With Israel being the size of Delaware, how is that the highly rated Israeli Military took anywhere from 7 to over 20 hours to respond to an ongoing slaughter of Israeli civilians?

How is it that many in the Netanyahu camp have been able to claim that they discounted timely intelligence because they believed HAMAS exaggerated its capabilities? What intelligence did they have that would allow for this debacle?

Why was Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu forced to delete an October 2023 social media commentary where he blamed Hamas attack on intelligence failures?

After the October 7, 2023 massacre against Israelis by HAMAS, how does Israel explain the proportionality of targeting legitimate HAMAS terrorists in comparison to the huge numbers of collateral Palestinian civilian casualties by Israeli military being way outside past Israeli standards? This is a concern because the US in providing arms to Israel is subject to international Geneva Convention constraints regarding the issue of proportionality in periods of war.

Why didn’t Israel give greater support to young peoples in Gaza protesting in droves against HAMAS in 2018?

Why did the Israeli PM Netanyahu take steps to prop up HAMAS during this period in time?

See: ‘Life under Hamas is like under ISIS,’ says Syria-born journalist / Times of Israel…

With all of the above questionable actions supporting the allegation that the prime minister is overly focused on his political survival, the US, international leaders and the Israeli peoples can’t allow Israel’s Prime Minister Netanyahu to get away with his talking point, that now is not the time to apportion responsibility since all energies must be directed toward victory over Hamas? This is especially true as the lives of Israeli hostages under the control of HAMAS are still at risk.

The above questions can possibly be explained if Israel deliberately chose to discount all the intelligence gleamed from a HAMAS report in the possession of Israel for over a year along with reporting by frontline Israeli soldiers regarding HAMAS soldiers conducting war like military training, weeks prior to the October 7 massacre on Israel by HAMAS. In addition, there’s Israels past multiple conflicts with Hamas in 2021, 2014, 2009, etc., only to be forced by the international community to agree to cease fires, over and over again.

As per a November 27, 2023 FP report, “How Netanyahu Plans to Hold on to Power” by Ben Lynfield:

Excerpts:

“His (survival) strategy seems to be threefold: to deflect blame for the security lapses that allowed the Hamas attack, keep his governing coalition intact at any cost, and bide his time until he can point to concrete achievements.”

“He hopes the military campaign will go well, and he is counting on time to be the best thing to heal [the country],” said Aviv Bushinsky, a political commentator who worked as an advisor to Netanyahu for nearly a decade.”

“Officials and analysts have called for an Israeli commission of inquiry to investigate the debacle and hold people accountable. In the meantime, Netanyahu has said it is not the moment to apportion responsibility since all energies must be directed toward victory over Hamas.”

“In the short term, Netanyahu seems to be benefiting from an axiom related to politics and war: You don’t topple a leader while fighting is underway. But Amnon Abramovich, a veteran commentator for Channel 12, said survival considerations might induce Netanyahu to prolong the war beyond what is strategically necessary. “I can’t determine this with certainty, but I don’t rule it out as a possibility,” he said.”

Gaza

In the October 9, 2023 BBC report, “Why did it take Israel so long to deal with Hamas’s attack from Gaza,” author Gordon Corera tells of the sophistication of the HAMAS attack on Israel on October 7, 2023.

Excerpts:

“Thousands of rockets were launched as cover. But there were also drone strikes on the monitoring equipment that Israel uses on the border fence to watch what is happening. Heavy explosives and vehicles then created as many as 80 breaches in the security fence.”

“Motorised hang-gliders and motorbikes were also involved, as between 800 and 1,000 armed men flooded out of Gaza to attack multiple sites.”

“Some of the Hamas fighters targeted civilian communities while others targeted military outposts. There has been shock that these outposts were so lightly-defended that they could be overrun, with images posted of Israeli tanks in Hamas hands.”

“And the holes in the border remained open for long enough to allow hostages to be taken into Gaza before tanks were eventually used to close them up.”

“Defences seem to have been patchy – Israeli security and defence forces had in recent months been more focused on the West Bank rather than Gaza, potentially leaving gaps. Hamas may have counted on the divisions in Israeli society over Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s policies to further distract the security establishment.”

See: Netanyahu and Hamas depended on each other. Both may be on the way out…

    • It’s hard to believe that a leader of democratically governed country would deliberately turn a blind eye as its own citizens were being brutally attacked but we’ve witnessed this happening in our own country on January 6, 2021.

It’s my opinion that Mr. Netanyahu is a smarter, more devious version of our own US GOP MAGA ex-president. I just pray that the folks in the White House get this. I believe that both HAMAS and PM Netanyahu should be made to step down from power, so that there’s at least a possibility for a 2-state solution.

Here we are warning US citizens about the danger of the US devolving from a democracy to an autocracy if the ex-president should win election again in 2024 but we’re turning a lazy eye towards Mr. Netanyahu doing likewise in Israel.

If PM Netanyahu doesn’t start doing more to spare lives of Palestinian citizens while allowing for much more humanitarian aid into Gaza, then POTUS Biden should consider playing hardball by taking steps like threatening to back the UN’s resolution for a ceasefire unless PM Netanyahu steps down.

      Hugs, Gronda
