House Dems in US Congress, think and act outside of box by doing something, anything!

I’m sick of hearing news reports about the horrible poll numbers for the democratic party US President Joe Biden and how he has to be fighting to get the message out about the extensive list of legislation that his administration has done to lift up all Americans on a bipartisan basis. Because in the US Congress the Democrats have a slim majority in the US Senate while Republicans have the majority position in the US House, President Biden has been stymied from being able to do more with regards to popular hot button items like the protection of citizens’ voting rights, better gun control measures, and the elimination of a large portion of the college student debt burden for young adults, etc.

It seems that President Biden who has been busy trying to get the US economy successfully past the covid era, isn’t getting the credit that he deserves for preventing a recession with the attendant record high stock market indexes, low unemployment numbers, a downward turn regarding inflation and gas prices at the pump, etc.

In addition, it’s an understatement to say that right now, his hands are full by competently working overtime to mitigate and limit any fall out because of multiple disasters abroad that could negatively impact US national security interests.

Now’s the time for US congressional democrats to come to the rescue by rolling up their sleeves to show voters that their representatives are capable of thinking outside of the box to fight for their basic rights, like making it easier for US citizens to cast their votes in a secure and safe environment and where their ballots are accurately counted for their intended candidates without any foreign interference.

In short, voters shouldn’t have to put up with essential US business being put on hold or blocked because there’s a majority of 3 seats in the US house in Congress being held by Trump-led republican party sycophants. Americans shouldn’t have to wait to change this status until the upcoming November 2024 elections, especially when we are living in times where there aren’t any guarantees and where the future continuation of our US democracy is at stake.

So, the congressional house Democrats will have to figure out ways to outmaneuver being handicapped by 3 congressional house republicans led by Trump from moving forward on a whole host of issues.

An example of taking steps to block the GOP MAGA ex-President Donald Trump from continuing to exert political prowess over his GOP MAGA congressional house members would be like what the US State of Colorado did. Its Supreme Court has blocked him from being on future ballots for elected office in Colorado based on the 14th amendment, section 3. Most likely, this ruling by the State of Colorado’s Supreme Court will be appealed to the US Supreme Court.

In 1861, several politicians were barred from elected offices because of their participation in the Civil War. This amendment passed in 1868 to deal with future insurrectionists.

Here’s my idea…

What democrats could do is to confront three republican party US congressional members with an offer that they can’t refuse. Choose officials who represent districts, won by the democrat President Biden and who give a damn about protecting US national security interests. They could be enticed to change their party affiliation from the republican party to becoming classified as an independent who’ll agree to caucus with democrats if democrats promise not to nominate a democratic party candidate to run against them in their next election cycle. This legal maneuver would allow democrats to hold the majority position in the US house.

How US national security interests are being compromised:

Currently, the US President Joe Biden is being hampered from moving forward on crucial foreign policies regarding Ukraine and Israel by several GOP MAGA US congressional members. These Trump loyalists, under the direction of the Putin/ Russian-loving US ex-President Donald Trump have been tasked with playing politics by linking the passage of military assistance to Israel and Ukraine to the domestic policy of improving U.S. border security.

By injecting one of the most divisive domestic political issues — immigration and border crossings at the southwest US border— into the middle of an intensifying debate over wartime foreign policy, these Putin-Trump loyalists in the US congress have managed to delay voting on the Biden administration’s request for supplemental military aid to Ukraine, a country standing up for western democracy by militarily defending itself from Russia’s brutal aggression for over 2 years.

This tactic of prioritizing US domestic policy over dealing with US foreign policy is NOT historically standard practice in the US congress but with powerful Trump sycophants catering to whatever the ex-President Donald. Trump wants, the rules mean nothing.”

Why it’s important to support Ukraine:

As per a November 16, 2023 Foreign Policy report, The Case for Supporting Ukraine Is Crystal Clear by Michael McFaul:

Excerpts:

“Ukraine now has a stronger military and closer ties to NATO than ever before; Finland has joined the alliance, and Sweden is set to follow. In 2022, Ukraine’s armed forces won the Battle of Kyiv, the Battle of Kharkiv, and the Battle of Kherson, liberating more than 50 percent of the territory that Russia had occupied since launching its full-scale invasion.”

“Now, some of these successes could be reversed because of waning U.S. support. The false claim of a battlefield stalemate has brought about a new narrative that Americans should stop helping Ukraine because it cannot win. Alarmingly, the U.S. House of Representatives has delayed voting on the Biden administration’s request for supplemental military aid. Without new assistance from the United States, Ukraine will soon run out of arms, ammunition, and funds to fight effectively against the occupying Russian forces. Most urgently, the Ukrainian government needs air defense systems to protect its people and civilian infrastructure against Russian missiles and Iranian drones this winter. And Ukraine also needs additional weapons to defend and extend last year’s gains.”

The real relationship between Trump and Putin, according to cartoons ...

“Putin clearly understands Ukraine’s precarious position in the U.S. Congress. Recently, he boasted that Ukraine would last only a week if the US stopped providing military assistance. Putin is wrong: The Ukrainians have made it abundantly clear that they will continue to fight. Recall how, in February 2022, thousands of Ukrainians across the country prepared Molotov cocktails to defend against the Russian invaders. Putin’s statement, however, once again proves that he is not seeking to negotiate. Instead, he is waiting for the United States to quit on its Ukrainian partners so he can launch a new offensive to seize more of Ukraine and destroy its democracy. Without U.S. assistance, more Ukrainians will certainly die, and Ukraine may well lose more territory.”

“By delaying further assistance to Ukraine, House Speaker Mike Johnson and his supporters are acting against the US’ own interests. Congress should approve new aid to Ukraine as fast as possible—not as a gesture of charity for Ukraine but as a hard-nosed and clear-headed investment in U.S. security objectives.”
