Project 2025 by Heritage Foundation Is GOP MAGA Ex-President’s Blueprint for Autocracy

Have You Heard? - Imgflip

The MAGA GOP ex-president is expected to follow the Heritage Foundation’s conservative Project 2025 plan to reconfigure just about all US governmental institutions and norms including eliminating the Department of Education, the firing of long-term governmental employees who aren’t deemed to be loyal enough to the ex-president, the widespread deportation of undocumented workers living in the USA, the overhauling of Medicare, etc.

If the GOP MAGA ex-president should win, the GOP MAGA Project 2025 blueprint on how his administration plans to govern along with the recent US Supreme Court’s ruling that vastly expands US presidential powers, then both will deliver the fatal blow to our US democracy.

I recently watched the MSNBC weekend morning TV show where Heritage Foundation’s mild-mannered President Kevin Roberts explained some of the main points of this plan which were beyond frightening. He politely confirmed his belief that widespread fraud occurred during the 2020 US presidential elections, that if the GOP MAGA ex-president wins in 2024, there’ll be widespread firings of current governmental employees, deemed not sufficiently loyal to MAGA policies, widespread deportations of undocumented peoples, no matter the circumstances, etc.

Democrats are starting to set up plans to counter the Project 2025 blueprint and rightfully so. Excerpts should be shared daily and frequently via multi-medias so that the public can be fully informed as to what their vote will mean for US democracy.

Attention everybody needs to understand what the GOP is planning to do ...

As per the June 10, 2024 USA Today report by Rachel Barber, “Project 2025 led by the Heritage Foundation, explained:”

“The detailed plan to dismantle and reconstruct the government laid out by conservative groups known as the 2025 Presidential Transition Project has critics up in arms over its “apocalyptic” and “authoritarian” nature.”

“The Heritage Foundation, a conservative think tank in Washington, D.C., led an effort to create the more than 900-page “Mandate for Leadership,” published in April 2023, reimagining the executive branch and presented a plan to overhaul several federal government agencies, including the FBI, for the country’s next conservative president to follow.”

As per the April 20, 2023 New York Times article by Jonathan Swann and Maggie Haberman, “Heritage Foundation Makes Plans to Staff Next G.O.P.:”

“In late 2020, Mr. Trump issued an executive order that would establish a new employment category for federal workers, called “Schedule F.” Barely anyone noticed because the order was developed in strict secrecy over more than a year and issued only two weeks before the 2020 election.”

“But key officials involved with the federal civil service immediately grasped the significance of Schedule F and its potential to create a new federal work force in which loyalty to Mr. Trump was the highest criteria, they said. Everett Kelley, who as national president of the American Federation of Government Employees represents more than half a million government workers, described Schedule F, at the time it was released, as “the most profound undermining of the civil service in our lifetimes.”

“Mr. Trump’s staff estimated that Schedule F would give the president the power to terminate and replace as many as 50,000 career government officials who served in roles that influenced federal policy.”

Heritage Foundation Makes Plans to Staff Next G.O.P. Administration ...

“President Biden rescinded the Schedule F order on his third day in office, but over the past two years, several of Mr. Trump’s confidants, including his former budget director Russell T. Vought have been working on a plan to re-enact the order and gut the federal civil service in a second Trump administration.”

“Now, the two plans — Mr. Trump’s and Heritage’s — are dovetailing, even as Mr. Trump himself has shown no interest in the details. Conveniently, Dennis Kirk, a former Trump administration lawyer who was involved with the adoption of Schedule F, is now employed by Heritage.”

As per the June 11, 2024 BBC report by Mike Wendling, “Project 2025: The Trump presidency wish list, explained:”

“The blueprint, called Project 2025 and produced by the conservative Heritage Foundation, is one of several think-tank proposals for Trump’s platform.”

“(Recently) California congressman Jared Huffman announced a Stop Project 2025 Task Force.

“Mr. Huffman said: “Project 2025 is more than an idea, it’s a dystopian plot that’s already in motion to dismantle our democratic institutions, abolish checks and balances, chip away at church-state separation, and impose a far-right agenda that infringes on basic liberties and violates public will.”

“The Project 2025 document outlines 4 main aims: restore the family as the centrepiece of American life; dismantle the administrative state; defend the nation’s sovereignty and borders; and secure God-given individual rights to live freely.”

“Heritage says Project 2025 was written by several former Trump appointees and reflects input from more than 100 conservative organizations.”

“Here’s an outline of several key proposals.”

Government

“Project 2025 proposes that the entire federal bureaucracy, including independent agencies such as the Department of Justice, be placed under direct presidential control – a controversial idea known as “unitary executive theory”.

“In practice, that would streamline decision-making, allowing the president to directly implement policies in a number of areas.”

“The proposals also call for eliminating job protections for thousands of government-employees, who could then be replaced by political appointees.”

“The document labels the FBI a “bloated, arrogant, increasingly lawless organization” and calls for drastic overhauls of this and other federal agencies, including eliminating the Department of Education.”

Immigration

“Increased funding for a wall on the US-Mexico border – one of Trump’s signature proposals in 2016 – is proposed in the document.”

“However, more prominent are the consolidation of various US immigration agencies and a large expansion in their powers.”

“Other proposals include increasing fees on immigrants and allowing fast-tracked applications for migrants who pay a premium.”

Climate and Economy

“The document proposes slashing federal money for research and investment in renewable energy and calls for the next president to “stop the war on oil and natural gas”.

“Carbon-reduction goals would be replaced by efforts to increase energy production and security.”

“The paper sets out two competing visions on tariffs and is divided on whether the next president should try to boost free trade or raise barriers to exports.”

“But the economic advisers suggest that a second Trump administration should slash corporate and income taxes, abolish the Federal Reserve and even consider a return to gold-backed currency.”

Abortion

“Project 2025 does not call for a nationwide abortion ban.”

“However, it proposes withdrawing the abortion pill mifepristone from the market.”

Tech and education

“Under the proposals, pornography would be banned, and tech and telecoms companies that facilitate access to such content would be shut down.”

“The document calls for school choice and parental control over schools and takes aim at “woke propaganda”.

“It proposes to eliminate a long list of terms from all laws and federal regulations, including “sexual orientation”, “diversity, equity, and inclusion”, “gender equality”, “abortion” and “reproductive rights”.

  1. I am just over halfway through reading Project 2025 and frankly, every word scares me. It is a playbook for turning the U.S. into Nazi Germany. It should be required reading for every single voter, and anyone who reads even one chapter of it and can still vote for Donald Trump is a person with no conscience, no values, no humanity.

    • Dear Jill,

Thanks for commenting. Yes, this Project 2025 is scary stuff.

This Project 2025 GOP MAGA playbook along with the recent SCOTUS ruling expanding the powers of the US presidency, awarding him the authority of a king is the set up for autocratic minority rule. If the GOP MAGA ex-president ever steps foot in the White House, life as we’ve always known while living in a democracy, will have ended.

That’s why I’m so frustrated watching Dems plus media political hacks wasting time by calling on POTUS Biden to step down. The GOP MAGAs will just point their hateful propaganda rhetoric towards any Democrat Party candidate who becomes a presidential candidate. For me, the only thing that’s important is keeping the GOP MAGA ex-president from ever getting close to the presidency. It’s time for voters to appreciate the power of their votes by trouncing all MAGA GOP candidates at the polling booths. Voting for a less than perfect elderly man who wants to protect US democracy is far better than the alternative.

      • Yes, I’ve actually wondered if certain justices on the Court might have made a little deal with the Heritage Foundation and/or Putin in exchange for giving Donald Trump a reusable “get out of jail free” card.

Yes, the single most important thing is keeping Trump and his cronies out of the Oval Office. Frankly, Donald Trump is only 3 years behind Biden in age, and three years is irrelevant at this stage in their lives. And Trump has shown far more signs of mental incompetence than Biden ever has. But for some reason, the free press is choosing to ignore this and beat up on the president. Makes me wonder who is motivating their views and what the trade-off is … something to think about.

  2. Dear Jill,

Thanks for commenting. Many of those in the Heritage Foundation who’re responsible for publishing the Product 2025 report have served the ex-president as officials in the executive branch (White House). There’s no way that he can back away from this report.

I don’t get why there isn’t at least equal scrutiny of the GOP MAGA ex-president as has been expended on Biden.

As per the October 20, 2023 article by Media Matters, “since President Joe Biden announced his 2024 campaign, 5 major US papers have mentioned Biden’s age in 332 articles and Trump’s in just 158.” The press coverage has not been equal.

Lately, I’ve made comments on the NYT and WAPO articles regarding this question of unequal treatment. I’m questioning if the professional political doomsday Biden prognosticators are fearful or intimidated by the bully-in-chief ex-president who won’t hesitate to single out a detractor to sic his MAGA cult-like followers to hound them, making their lives a living nightmare. There has to be a logical explanation for the piling on with regards to ageism signs against Biden while sparing the ex-president from being equally held accountable for his wall-to-wall lies and ramblings that he trumpeted during the debate. Anyone who watches his unedited rally videos will see him make many more gaffes, mistakes, while slurring and forgetting his train of thought than what Biden ever has.

    Hugs, Gronda
