aside Ignore the Lies/ Saving US Democracy Requires Record Turnout/ 2024 Election Status

The Latest Polls Say...

Early voting is about to begin in some states. Now is the time when all voters need to ignore all the pundits’ prognostications, to view with skepticism any published polling numbers and any and all outrageous claims/ actions by nefarious actors that are designed to suppress/ depress the vote. Ignore whatever GOP MAGA made-up smears that are lobbed against Democrat party candidates. In short, pay no attention to all claims delivered by GOP MAGA political operatives and their surrogates, foreign governments regarding the state of the US economy, issues of immigration, widespread election fraud and Project 2025.

As Americans start casting their ballots, they need shut out all the outside noises and distraction by simply planning and casting their votes, no matter the circumstances. It’s time to make history!

As for the current polls, trends show Vice President Kamala Harris inching ahead of the GOP MAGA ex-president by about 1-3 points, within the margin of error.  As of today, Nate Silver is predicting that the Democratic nominee, has over a 50 percent chance of winning in the swing states of Michigan, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Nevada. But other than noting trends, the polling numbers can’t be accurate if what I expect is true, that this’ll be a record turnout election.

For an idea as to how the 2024 elections are doing, look at information like how many Americans have registered to vote after the September 2024 presidential debate, if early voting numbers reflect record setting turnout numbers and for any reports showing a major change in voters’ attitudes like who’s better on economic and immigration policies. Currently, the GOP MAGA ex-president is winning on both subjects, but the lead he has over VP Harris is narrowing.

For example, one recent poll by Selzer & Co for Iowa, a very credible polling company caught my attention. Vice President Kamala Harris is within 4 points of the GOP MAGA ex-president in Iowa. POTUS Biden had been 18 points behind. Iowans are politically savvy voters. For me, this is a “canary in the coal mine” sign.

As per a recent WSJ report, “Most polls show Donald Trump trailing Kamala Harris. Yet he may take comfort that the media’s favorite soothsayer—Moody’s Analytics chief economist Mark Zandi—is projecting victory for Ms. Harris (with 286 electoral votes).”

Another good sign are endorsements from past and current republican party leaders, celebrities like Taylor Swift, economists, Union leaders, even some from the Teamsters.

This news item caught my attention. As per the September 21, 2024 USA today article by Maya Marchell Hoff, “Young voters are registering in record numbers:”

Excerpts:

Voter registration is breaking records as Election Day approaches, particularly among young people, many of whom are first-time voters.

“On Tuesday’s (9/17) National Voter Registration Day more than 150,000 people registered through Vote.org, the most the organization has ever seen on that day. The organization registered 279,400 voters in all of last year.

“Last week, 337,826 people visited a link posted on Instagram by pop star Taylor Swift that directed them to their state’s voter registration site.”

History…

Remember that in 2020, the GOP MAGA ex-president won a record number of votes, over 74 million in comparison to 63 million votes in 2016 when he won the presidency with the electoral college count by only over 77,000 more votes in 4 swing states.

Unfortunately for the GOP MAGA ex-president, the Democrat Party’s POTUS Joe Biden also won a record number of votes at over 81 million in 2020 and he won the electoral college count by flipping just over 81,139 more votes in the four swing states of Nevada, Arizona, Wisconsin and Georgia.

In 2020, the turnout numbers for both republican and democrat candidates beat all previous elections. With the GOP MAGA ex-president’s mind set of hating to lose, it has to be driving him crazy to know that he did so well in 2020, just to lose by a few thousand votes.

The GOP ex-president has figured out that he needs to meet or exceed his 2020 numbers while GOP MAGA political operators do everything they can think of to suppress/ depress the votes for democrat party candidates.

Lies…

This is why GOP MAGA candidates are counting on lies and misleading claims related to the US economy, immigration issues at the US southern border and the big lie, that there continues to be widespread corruption related to presidential election vote counting processes like during the 2020 presidential election, in order to incentivize their supporters to turn out to vote in record high numbers, enough to win the electoral college count in the 7 swing states of Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, Arizona, Nevada, Georgia and North Carolina. The other glaring deception is the GOP MAGA ex-president continuing to deny his connection to Project 2025, a blueprint on how to run the US government with an autocrat leader at the helm.

The GOP MAGA ex-president keeps stating that he has no connection to Project 2025. Yet, he can be seen in a 2022 video via Google on the Heritage Foundation premises when the Project 2025 blueprint had been published, praising the Project 2025 blueprint for how to run the US government with a GOP MAGA conservative at the helm. About 32 out of 36 conservatives who wrote this 922-page manual had previously been employed by his administration. For the cherry on top, the GOP MAGA ex-president’s vice president pick JD Vance has written the forward to the Project 2025 book, planned for future publication. Trump and his VP pick can no more disassociate themselves from Project 2025 than they can from the abortion issue.

In addition, the GOP MAGA ex-president has been trumpeting many of the Project 2025 plans like that of deporting migrants (pages 135-167) during his rallies.

The GOP ex-president decided early on that his anti-immigration stance is what’ll best motivate his base of voters to turn out for him on election day. All the polling numbers show that voters think he’s better for border security by 15 to 21 points.
The ex-president’s use of immigration as a major political tool became obvious after he killed the 2024 conservative led immigration bill that was on the way to passage around February.
As per the September 13, 2024 USA Today by D. Allan Kerr, “News about Kerr: Trump Tales – The Time He Sabotaged The Border Security Bill:”
Excerpts:
“James Lankford, an ordained Baptist minister and conservative Republican senator from Oklahoma, was his party’s primary architect in crafting the immigration plan. When asked by Fox News back in April why it failed, Lankford replied:”

“Several of my colleagues started looking for ways out after President Trump said don’t fix anything during the presidential election. It’s the single biggest issue during the election, don’t resolve this, we’ll resolve it next year. Quite a few of my colleagues backed up and looked for a reason to be able to shoot against it and then walked away.”

“The conservative Wall Street Journal endorsed the plan as well, stating, “By any honest reckoning, this is the most restrictive migrant legislation in decades.” But the newspaper’s editorial board also questioned whether the GOP was serious about addressing what party leaders claimed to be a huge security problem.”

“Do Republicans want to better secure the U.S. border, or do they want to keep what has become an open sore festering for another year as an election issue?” the Journal asked.”  “That’s the choice presented to Congress this week with the rollout of the Senate’s bipartisan border security bill, and we’ll soon learn what the GOP really wants.”

“The party made its answer known when they overwhelmingly shut the bill down, with only 4 Republicans voting for the measure.”

Recently, the GOP MAGA ex-president has ordered his US Congressional lieutenants not to pass a continuing resolution to fund the US government even if there’s a government shutdown without adding his SAVE Act, based on an already existing law in every US state, the proposal for voters having to prove US citizenship in order to register to vote. Including the SAVE Act as part of the funding bill failed to garner enough votes for passage

As per a recent Politico report, “Congressional leaders are closing in on a deal to avoid a potential government shutdown on Oct. 1.”

“The forthcoming bill, known as a continuing resolution, is expected to fund the government until mid-December and will not include Republicans’ proposal to require proof of citizenship in order to register to vote.”

Nate Silver /2024 elections…

As per the September 19, 2024 Newsweek article by Marni Rose McFall, “Nate Silver Issues ‘Good News’ for Kamala Harris on Electoral College Chances:”

Excerpts:

“If Harris wins the popular vote by about two and a half points or more, she’s a favorite in the Electoral College, if she wins by less than two and a half points, she probably doesn’t get over the finish line in states like Pennsylvania.”

“This is a good development for her,” Silver said.”

“Critics argue that the Electoral College has a bias toward the Republican party, which they say arises from the way electoral votes are distributed among states, which give smaller more rural states – many of which tend to vote Republican – disproportionate influence.”

“Each state gets a number of electors equal to its total representation in Congress, meaning that states with smaller populations still get at least 3 electoral votes, regardless of size.”

“Silver said that Harris had a good day in the polls, with his averages showing the vice president is leading Donald Trump by 3.1 percentage points nationwide (49.1 percent to 46 percent).”
