Dear Readers, I know that petitions are rarely effective, but this is one way to send our new republican President Donald Trump a message that yes, most Americans want him to share his IRS tax returns; and yes, they would like for him to lead by example, by avoiding even the appearance of “conflicts of issue” problems.

On 1/20/17, CNN reported on the 2 petitions:

(CNN) — The first petition on the White House’s page for citizens to petition has its first entry mere hours after President Donald Trump was sworn in. And it’s a request for him “immediately” release his full tax returns.

“Immediately release Donald Trump’s full tax returns, with all information needed to verify emoluments clause compliance,” the petition reads.

The reason, the petition cites, is to make sure Trump’s business dealings doesn’t conflict with his government dealings.

So far it’s closing in on 2,800 signatures. If it gets 100,000 signatures in 30 days, the White House gives an official update within 60 days.

A second petition was submitted to the White House website moments later. That petition asks Trump to “Divest or put in a blind trust all of the President’s business and financial assets.Related image

In keeping with tradition and to avoid the appearance of conflicts of interest, corruption, and violations of the emoluments clause of the constitution (No monies from a foreign government is acceptable.), President Trump should divest his financial and business holdings or have them administered by a truly blind trust,” it reads.

      • I see we’re swinging back to old white pro-establishment men “leading” the country… what else is new?
There should be plenty of marches going forward to keep the Trumpster in check, just like the 60s!

    • Dear Jill,

Thanks for doing this. Again this is just another message but we need to send many more. He needs to know that we are out there. I was walking with a professional protestor who was at the Inaugural events. She assured me that the crowd of women at the Women’s March far exceeded the number who showed up for DT.

  1. Gronda, there is a correlation that we cannot overlook. A man with a spotty business record who does insufficient due diligence with foreign partners will not release his tax returns. Quite simply, a betting person would say he is hiding something. Similarly, his insistence that Russia was not involved with the hacking and election influence was so avid, something appears amiss. It is either due to his ego or his awareness beforehand or both..

To be frank, with this man’s history of misrepresentation, I believe things could be discovered in his tax returns that would be embarrassing or indicting. I begin with the position he is lying and work my way from there, as that is what the odds tell us to do.

That is not a good way to feel about our president, Keith

  2. Dear Keith,

This is a man who is still lying along with his sycophants in tow, that the number who attended his Inaugural events were huuuuuuuuuuge when the world knows this is simply not true. But we need to send him lots of messages that he is only fooling himself.

    Ciao, Gronda
