According to recent news reports, the republican President Donald Trump’s FBI’s Special Counsel Robert Mueller III who has been placed in charge of the Trump Russian probe, is now enlisting the assistance of the IRS. This also means he has access to the president’s IRS tax returns. The president now goes to sleep each night knowing that the best of the best financial sleuths have been perusing with a fine tooth comb his tax returns. This is his worst nightmare come true.
Here is the rest of the story…
On August 31, 2017, Betsy Woodruff of the Daily Beast penned the following report, “Exclusive: Mueller Enlists the IRS for His Trump-Russia Investigation.“
Excerpts:
“Special counsel Bob Mueller has teamed up with the IRS. According to sources familiar with his investigation into alleged Russian election interference, his probe has enlisted the help of agents from the IRS’ Criminal Investigations unit.”
“This unit—known as CI—is one of the federal government’s most tight-knit, specialized, and secretive investigative entities. Its 2,500 agents focus exclusively on financial crime, including tax evasion and money laundering. A former colleague of Mueller’s said he always liked working with IRS’ special agents, especially when he was a U.S. Attorney.”
“Potential financial crimes are a central part of Mueller’s probe. One of his top deputies, Andy Weissmann, formerly helmed the Justice Department’s Enron probe and has extensive experience working with investigative agents from the IRS.”

“From the agents, I know everyone has the utmost respect for both Mueller and Weissmann,” said Martin Sheil, a retired IRS Criminal Investigations agent.
“And he said Mueller and Weissmann are known admirers of those agents’ work.”

“The FBI’s expertise is spread out over so many statutes—and particularly since 9/11, where they really focused on counterintelligence and counter-terror—that they simply don’t have the financial investigative expertise that the CI agents have,” Sheil continued. “When CI brings a case to a U.S. Attorney, it is done. It’s wrapped up with a ribbon and a bow. It’s just comprehensive.”
“The IRS, for its part, became a target of conservative ire during the Obama administration for its investigations into Tea Party groups—probes that Republicans called political witch hunts. The complaints about politicized taxmen could begin again, with the IRS joining forces with Mueller.”

“It’s been widely reported that the special counsel’s team is trying to “flip” Paul Manafort, the president’s former campaign CEO, in hopes he will provide evidence against his former colleagues. Former federal prosecutors tell The Daily Beast one of Manafort’s biggest legal liabilities could be to what’s called a “check the box” prosecution. Federal law requires that people who have money in foreign bank accounts check a box on their tax returns disclosing that. And there’s speculation that Manafort may have neglected to check that box, which would be a felony. This is exactly the kind of allegation the IRS would look into.”
Thank you for still more good news. It’s a shame that this has to be what we think of as good news these days, isn’t it? Sigh.

Dear Jill,
That day is coming when there will be dancing in the streets; the champagne will be flowing, peoples will be singing and shouting. I’ll even go find myself a boyfriend The sky’s the limit. I’d even tolerate VP Pence for a few days.

Dear Mz. Gronda,
While all eyes are fixed upon Manafort, all that I am reading about on the other side is that the real focus is upon Kushner, not only by the FBI and IRS, but with the state of New York as well. My money is that while Manafort will play an important part in the case, but the real focus is against the baby trumpsters and Kushner. They know that tRump will not allow his family take the hit without his making a major mistake and that is what they are counting on. The hurricane is IMO the only reason that he is still able to remain in office, and his time is drawing to a close. The wild card in the deck at this time is Mueller, and the rumors are pretty solid on his wanting to draw blood for personal reasons at this time.
Have you noticed the fixation on violence that so many of the semi major players in support of tRump have gone back to enspousing? Many have returned to the threats of violence if they perceive any removal of the tRump is about to begin? In the remote possibility that the radical faction of the Republican party, for example the die hards that will support tRump regardless of any factual information that is released, how many people in this nation are simply so disgusted with government and the laws of the land that they will join with them? Do we as a people simply cover our ears and rock back and forth refusing to allow hear news that we chose not to hear? I have a lot of faith in our government, perhaps more than I should, and IMO the government will with stand the assault, but will we as a people be able to continue to stand strong against the onslaught that could take place?

Dear Keith,
My prayer is that everything that Mr. Mueller uncovers will be made public. The Mueller story will go down in the history annals of the FBI.

Dear Crustyolemothman,
I agree with you on mostly everything.
Based on my observations, Trump supporters’ enthusiasm has been declining. It is my sincere belief that most will have no interest in taking any serious action. There will be too many peoples dancing in the streets. There will be a break out of celebrations. I’m betting that DDT and his alt-right/ White nationalists will get the picture that “we the people” are not buying their pile of manure.
Please don’t burst my bubble and forgive me, if I don’t want you to be right about the chances for violence breaking out.
Hugs, Gronda

Uh-oh, The IRS!
Run for the Hills you guys!!
When I worked for the UK version (Her Majesty’s Inspector of Taxes -1968 to 1996), we used to dream about having the powers the IRS had; and we were expected to always be polite too. (which could be fun if someone was screaming abuse at you)
