aside Gen. Mike Flynn Will Testify In Exchange For Immunity

Trump/ Flynn

The other shoe has finally dropped. The Wall Street Journal is breaking the news that the republican President Donald Trump’s former National Security Advisor, retired Lt. General Mike Flynn has offered to testify about the Trump/ Russian saga in exchange for immunity.

Here is the rest of the story…

On 3/30/17, Shane Harris, Carol E. Lee and Julian E. Barnes of the Wall Street Journal penned the following report,“Mike Flynn Offers to Testify in Exchange for Immunity:

“As an adviser to Mr. Trump’s presidential campaign, and later one of Mr. Trump’s top aides in the White House, Mr. Flynn was privy to some of the most sensitive foreign-policy deliberations of the new administration and was directly involved in discussions about the possible lifting of sanctions on Russia imposed by the Obama administration.”

“He has made the offer to the FBI and the House and Senate intelligence committees though his lawyer but has so far found no takers, the officials said.”

“Mr. Flynn’s attorney, Robert Kelner, declined comment.”

  1. I have a few concerns about this offer. Is it an offer to be interviewed or an offer to testify? Normally an interview is not under oath and as such could not be the prize that one might expect, where as if he agrees to testify then it will be under oath and holds much more weight legally.

    • Dear Crustyolemothman,

He does not want to say anything under any circumstances that could be used against him later in a criminal prosecution. Before he can testify or be interviewed, he would need to have criminal immunity, so that he can testify freely without having to resort to his fifth amendment rights. Typically, a requirement for the benefit of an immunity agreement, is that the beneficiary is obligated to be truthful.

However, the Senate Intelligence Committee members may resist taking him up on his offer this early because they could do harm to the FBI investigation.

      Ciao, Gronda

  2. We creep ever closer to the truth. I wonder if no-one has taken him on because they already have most of the story and fully intend to prosecute those involved in a criminal matter like treason. I wish they could bring the whole matter to a conclusion though as the longer this is in the air the more things initiated by Trump have to be undone.

    • Dear Jill,

This is mind numbing. The law enforcement folks typically give immunity do they can catch bigger fish. The only fish bigger than Mike Flynn is DT.

I am very appreciative of your support and gracious feedback. And thanks a million for this reblog.

      Hugs, Gronda

  5. This has echoes of Watergate, already.
And a month ago I was confidently telling my wife that there couldn’t possibly be an impeachment proceedings against an incumbent President at this stage in their tenure.
Now I’m wondering if I was leaning too heavily on precedence?

      • You need to be an LBJ or a Richard Milhouse Nixon schooled in the hard world of political reality to appreciate that tough message.
The current president and his cabinet would not have come close to the Whitehouse were not a proportion of The People furious with a system that they feel is letting them down. Therefore he will continue to live in the bubble of social media creation and continue to be in danger of delusion. Walking out on an executive order signing….says it all.
It would all be rather humorous, if all of the USA were not caught up in it.
