On the 24th of July 2019, the FBI’s former Special Counsel Robert Mueller III testified before the US House’s Judiciary and Intel committees about his 3/22/2019 final report’s findings based on its 22 months long Trump Russia probe regarding the republican President Donald Trump’s coordination efforts between him and his campaign staffers with Russian operatives to effect the outcome of the 2016 elections in his favor and his numerous attempts to interfere/ obstruct the FBI’s investigation.
For the most part, Mr. Mueller played the part of the reluctant witness who had been forced to do his duty until the House Intel members started to question him about what was the likelihood of Russia repeating its 2014-2016 full-throttle attack on the US voting elections infrastructure in 2020. This is when the esteemed taciturn Mr. Mueller became moved to warn that Russia not only had plans for a repeat performance in 2020 it was currently hard at work in this endeavor.
Despite Mr. Mueller’s warning which was similar to what the FBI’s Director Chris Wray had shared with the House Judiciary Committee on July 23, 2019, that Russians are still carrying out foreign influence operations on the US, despite US efforts to deter them ahead of the 2020 elections
Post the 7/24/2019 US House hearings with Mr. Mueller, the GOP-led US Senate refuse to allow its members to vote on any “election security measures.
But on the 25th of July 2019, the US Senate Intelligence Committee shared with the American public a heavily redacted 67 page report detailing how election systems in all 50 US states were targeted by Russia in 2016. Maybe this intel report will move the US Senate to figure a way around the resistant GOP Majority Leader Senator Mitch McConnell to finally let them pass legislation to secure the US voting elections’ systems before the 2020 November elections’ season.

On July 25, 2019, David E. Sanger and Catie Edmondson of the New York Times penned the following report, Russian Hack of Elections System Was Far-Reaching, Report Finds
The Senate Intelligence Committee concluded Thursday (7/25/2019) that election systems in all 50 states were targeted by Russia in 2016, largely undetected by the states and federal officials at the time, but at the demand of American intelligence agencies the committee was forced to redact its findings so heavily that key lessons for the 2020 election are blacked out.

The report — the first volume of several to be released from the committee’s investigation into Russia’s 2016 election interference — came just 24 hours after the former special counsel, Robert S. Mueller III, warned that Russia was moving again to interfere “as we sit here.”
It also landed hours after Senator Mitch McConnell, the majority leader, personally stepped forward to block consideration of a package of election security bills.
“It concluded that while there is no evidence that any votes were changed in actual voting machines, “Russian cyberactors were in a position to delete or change voter data” in the Illinois voter database. The committee found no evidence that they did so.”
“While the report is not directly critical of either American intelligence agencies or the states, it described what amounted to a cascading intelligence failure, in which the scope of the Russian effort was underestimated, warnings to the states were too muted, and state officials either underreacted or, in some cases, resisted federal efforts to offer help.”

Gronda, thanks for sharing. This should be a nonpartisan issue – another government is attacked our country and is still doing it. I have been reaching out to McConnell and other Senators for months now to act on this issue. Why has there been no action? It has to be more than not wanting to upset the president who feels this discredits his election which is a large part of it. Let’s be clear, it does.
Which is why we must stop it? My speculation is McConnell wants to give the president the right to claim foul if he loses. He has already brought up hos false voter fraud claim, again without proof.
To be frank, I think we should begin using the T word with McConnell and Trump. By failing to address election security, we view these as traiterous acts to our country. Maybe, that will get their attention. Keith

PS – Article today let us know that the Senate Leader’s campaign has received a number of donations from Voting machine company lobbyists. They are small donations under the limit, but how much dark money from similar folks is helping his campaign? Keith
