This is a shout out to all the US media outlets, to stop giving so much video coverage to the republican President Donald Trump as he spouts his rhetoric of hate, divisiveness, his demonizing of other like the press, law enforcement entities like the FBI, US Department of Justice (DOJ) and others.
In most of his rallies, he has a habit of rewarding violence like bragging about a US Congressman physically attacking a journalist; stating that he’ll pay the legal bills if his followers hurt a heckler in their midst. There are numerous other examples.
The president’s campaign rallies are directed/ orchestrated like a political WWE Wrestle Mania event.
The president is also the head of state where the body politics follow. He is in a unique position to set the the tone as to how his party members and his supporters will comport themselves. He has been the leader who actually voices admiration for those who act with violence exacerbated with vile, ugly language and sentiment.
If this was any other man spouting off his hate, decisiveness, encouraging and showing off his penchant for violence, the press would not cover him acting like this, as extensively. This is not normal and the US press has been doing its part to normalize these ugly behaviors by giving the president all the coverage, he craves.
We all have been hearing the rhetoric from the right, that includes the republican President Donald Trump, GOP lawmakers and others about the “what about them” talking points.
First of all, I have gone on the record to argue against protesters from the left or the right confronting their lawmaker while they are out to dinner with their families, as being counterproductive. Constituents confronting these lawmakers at their places of work like at the US Congress about their grievances is the American way.
Democratic leaders in the US Congress and others like President Barack Obama have come forward to discourage the kind of incivility described above, but which have been advanced by some of their colleagues like Eric Holder and the US Representative Maxine Waters.
Yes, it is true that around September 2017, a Senator Bernie Saunders’ supporter did shoot at US Congressional lawmakers while they were practicing for a charity baseball game but at NO time ever, did Senator Saunders ever promote this level of violence while campaigning or in the performance of his other duties. Immediately, after this tragedy, Senator Saunders was the first one out of the box to publicly extend his heartfelt condolences to those harmed while he made it clear that promotion of violence is never acceptable in the advancement of political viewpoints.
It is important to note that soon after this act of horror the US Democratic Party leaders in the US Congress joined in with their Republican colleagues to decry the monstrosity of this act of violence by someone thinking that it was okay to harm others in the name of politics.
Do the above scenarios reflect how the republican President Donald Trump and his GOP sycophants working in the White House, the US Congress and right wing media outlets acted to check the violent rhetoric of their leader, in comparison to how Democratic Party leaders acted under similar circumstances? It’s NOT EVEN CLOSE.
Remember, around August 2017, when President Trump claimed that there’s a moral equivalency between the Nazis type groups protesting in its ‘Unite The Right’ rally Charlottesville, VA. with those protesting against them, where an innocent was murdered by one of these Nazis types. During the 2017 Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, right-wing extremists openly recited Nazi slogans and carried Nazi paraphernalia. THERE WAS NO MORAL EQUIVALENCY THEN AND THERE ISN’T NOW.

IT’S IMPORTANT THAT GOP MEMBERS NOT GET AWAY WITH EQUATING ACTIONS BY THE LEFT WITH THOSE FROM THE RIGHT. THERE’S NO MORAL EQUIVALENCY.
As per the 1/18/18 Independent report by Chris Baynes, “Murders committed by white supremacists more than doubled in the US last year, (2017) accounting for the majority of extremist killings, according to a report.”
“Far-right radicals were responsible for 20 of the 34 extremist murders in 2017, said the Anti-Defamation League (ADL).”
“Eighteen of those were carried out by white supremacists, who killed twice as many people as Islamic fundamentalists, the civil rights group’s Centre on Extremism said.
Last year was the fifth deadliest for extremist violence in America since 1970, according to research by the ADL.
“White supremacists were responsible for 59 per cent of all extremist killings last year. That compares to a fifth the previous year, when six people were murdered by white supremacists, although the ADL acknowledged that figure was “uncharacteristically low”.
“Seventy-one per cent of all extremist murders in the past decade were linked to domestic right-wing extremism.”

It is my opinion that President Trump has been sending a signal sub rosa to White Supremacist type groups who now like to refer to themselves as “White Nationalists.” when President Trump recently started referring to himself as a “Nationalist,” by itself. After all, he needs their votes.
Here are his words at a Texas rally, “And I say, ‘Really? We’re not supposed to use that word,’” Trump continued. “You know what I am? I’m a nationalist. OK? I’m a nationalist.”
As the crowd roared with applause, the president continued: “Use that word. Use that word.”
Then in almost the next sentence he uses the word ‘Globalists’ and states that he’s not one of those who claim to be a globalist.
As the Anti-Defamation League’s Jonathan Greenblatt puts it, “The term originates from a reference to Jewish people who have been seen as having allegiances not to their countries of origin like the United States, but to some global conspiracy.” Greenblatt said it’s “disturbing” when public officials “literally parrot this term which is rooted in prejudice.”

Let’s not forget, racial animus helped catapult Donald Trump into the White House. His challenging the Black President Barack Obama to prove his American citizenship is just one example of how he catered to those with racist leanings within the GOP base of voters.
Since the end of the civil rights movement and under Republican strategist Lee Atwater’s “Southern strategy” (Nixon days) that used racism as an unstated weapon against Democrats, the Republican Party itself has played a welcoming host to racial tensions and fears.
As per a 7/9/18 VOX report by Jane Coaston, “More important, (republican) candidates like Walker and Jones (both White Supremacists) threaten to further inculcate the idea that the Republican Party is inherently susceptible to candidates who espouse racist and anti-Semitic ideas. The Republican Party is, after all, both the party of Lincoln, and the party of Richard Nixon and Lee Atwater’s Southern strategy aimed at getting racists on board without, in Atwater’s own words, “saying, ‘nigger, nigger, nigger.’” And it’s also the party of the nation’s most prominent birther, who rode to the White House on a wave of what researchers in December 2017 called “racial resentment.”
“In the wake of Trump’s “very fine people on both sides” comments after Charlottesville, and with his outward support of Corey Stewart and silence on other extremist candidates, and with what feels like more and more Republican candidates with connections to racist and anti-Semitic ideas and figures emerging by the day, that idea isn’t likely to go away.”
In short, those who decide to tolerate racist groups in their circles are also backing those who are anti-Semitic. The republican party including their Jewish members and donors cannot go to bed with Nazis/ racist groups if they want to claim they have no tolerance for those foster violence against their Jewish brothers and sisters.
The mail delivery of 14 pipe bombs between October 22-26, 2018, to Democratic Party officials/ leaders who just happen to be on President’s favorite hit list..
No sooner did the story become public around 10/22/18, about several Democratic icons having been the recipients by mail of manila envelops containing IEDs, did the president and his cronies start up the conspiracy theory that this act of widespread domestic terrorism, was a false flag, and that the pipe bombs were fake.
This tactic backfired, as the Trumpian supporter and perpetrator of this act of domestic terrorism was arrested. The FBI and other law enforcement officials took extra care by publicly announcing that the IEDs were NOT HOAXES and that this act of domestic terrorism was for real.
The Mass shooting at Jewish synagogue on 10/27/18
The GOP and the republican President Donald Trump have blood on their hands as they continue resorting to catering to the racists within their midst without open censure.
They forget that those Nazis, White Supremacists type groups’ claim to fame, is their antipathy/ antisemitism towards those who practice their Jewish faith.
On the 27th of October, 2018, 46 year old Nazis carried out a mass shooting in a Jewish synagogue, Tree of Life, located in Pittsburgh, PA. where 11 attendees were killed and 6 injured including 4 police officers.
As per a 10/ 27/18 VOX report by Tara Isabella Burton,”This shooting comes amid a steady increase in anti-Semitic incidents and hate crimes since the 2016 presidential campaign season and, in particular, the inauguration of Donald Trump.”
“In the last year for which complete data is available, the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), an advocacy group dedicated to combating anti-Semitism, found that there had been 1,986 reported anti-Semitic incidents in the US that year, including acts of vandalism as well as physical violence. That figure was a 57 percent increase from 2016, which itself had seen a 35 percent uptick in incidents from 2015.”
Too often anti-immigration zealots= racism
Too many republicans are getting on the band wagon with President Donald Trump and his sycophant anti-immigration base of voters to turn back what is truly great about the USA, our diversity based on the welcoming of immigrants from all over the world including from those so called sh*th*le countries with peoples of color, as he describes them.
There are their attempts to stoke fears of others who are different by conflating incorrectly, immigration with criminality, terrorism. This is how many republican candidates plan to win in the 2018 November elections by catering to voters who are prone to be anti-immigration/ racists, by lying about the Honduran refugees’ caravan being comprised of criminals, gang members, jihadists in disguise, being paid for by by the democratic billionaire George Soros, despite these falsehoods being debunked by an embedded FOX News reporter and other credible fact-checking sources.
But it turns out that the mass shooter Robert Bowers of innocents in the Tree of Life Synagogue complained about our Jewish brothers and sister for inviting refugees/ immigrants into their community.
As per the 10/27/18 NYT article, “For months, Robert D. Bowers had been spewing his anger on the web, calling immigrants “invaders,” distributing racist memes and asserting that Jews were the “enemy of white people.”

Proud Boys
As per the 10/24/18 Week report by Ryan Cooper, Take the so-called “Proud Boys,” a violent proto-fascist gang founded by the overt racist Gavin McInnes. McInnes was recently invited to the Metropolitan Republican Club — which is also the headquarters of the New York Republican Party. At the club, McInnes and his goons celebrated the 58th anniversary of the political assassination of Japan Socialist Party leader Inejiro Asanuma, who was stabbed to death with a samurai sword at a public event by a young right-wing fanatic.
“And afterwards, the Proud Boys allegedly conducted gang beatdowns of several lefty counter-protesters while they screamed homophobic slurs. Far-right extremists, including both “Patriot Prayer” (a different right-wing gang) members and Proud Boys, allegedly did something similar in Portland the next day — and not for the first time. Gang beatdowns are apparently important initiation rituals for the Proud Boys.
I wonder what Jared’s feeling is about the Jewish killings are since he is Jewish? He probably has his FIL to explain it’s all the democrats and fake news fault. Oh and Obama and Hillary.

Dear Mary Plumbago,
You’ve asked the question that most Jewish peoples have to be asking themselves. By supporting President Trump, they are supporting his condoning of racist group members within the Republican Party. These members are also virulently against those who practice their Jewish faith and their members are more prone to the use of violence.
There is a connection.

Gronda, well described. Below is a repeat of a comment I just typed on Jill’s blog. While it is true the seeds of divsiveness have been cultivated and domestic hate groups have been around for some time before the age of Trump, the man in the White House won by stoking the division playing on fears and allowing the domestic hate groups to crawl out from under the rocks into main stream society. It is not ironic that David Duke thanked Trump for his Charlottesville remarks.
Trump represents our worst instincts by demonizing, lying and condoning violence. He celebrated a candidate for body slamming a reporter the same day the world was condemning the dismembering of a reporter. Further, when confronted with his culpability, he summons his inner child to avoid accountability and responsibility. What would Jesus do? Very little of what this man does.
It is true that it is unfair to brand Trump supporters as racist. But, is also true to say that white supremacists support Trump.
Until he decides he is the President of the United States, he will continue perpetuating our worst instincts. Any so called journalists who do not see this man for what he is or are choosing not to are not paying attention. Keith

Dear Keith,
Well said. The man in the White House and the GOP who have participated heavily into the Southern Strategy which is alive and well in places like Florida,, have blood on their hands.
These folks cannot give cover to White Supremacists without giving cover to their violent actions against their well publicized nemesis, their Jewish brothers and sisters.
The GOP”s head is rotten to the core and it swims downhill from there.
They need to be called out on this.
It goes like this. GOP= Southern Strategy/ condoning of racist groups= giving license to those in White Supremacists’ groups to do harm to their perceived foes, the Jewish population.

Good post, Gronda. The escalation of hate in this nation is untenable … we simply cannot go on like this much longer before we end up in an all-out Civil War. And yes, Trump and his gang of thugs are responsible for unleashing these haters. There was a time they would have been afraid to do the things they do, but no more. That picture of the “Proud Boys” literally makes me sick. They are children, for Pete’s Sake! Where are their parents? Have they no values either? Never mind … I just answered my own questions. Sigh. My question is where and how does it end, and how do we fight against this hate without lowering ourselves to their low standards. I don’t know the answers.
Hugs.

Dear Jill,
You fight back with facts, evidence. If I had my way, the media would limit its coverage of President Trump, especially the rallies where he wallows in his hate speech against others.
He has the biggest bully pulpit. He sets the tone which has been frankly sick. The republicans who are mum about his behaviors are complicit.
And yes, there has been a huge escalation in hate crimes from these racist/ White Supremacists. With the WH giving them a wink and a nod, he is also giving them license to act out. Since their #1 enemy are those who practice their Jewish faith, they end up targeting them with violence.
I wonder if the billionaire Jewish donor to the GOP coffers recognizes that there is this connection.
Hugs, Gronda.

I fully agree … I would love to see the media simply refuse to cover his rallies and to seriously limit their coverage of him, for it’s the constant attention that feeds his ego.
As far as I’m concerned, the deaths of those 11 people rests as squarely on Trump’s shoulders as if he had pulled the trigger. It’s no wonder they didn’t want him to come to Pittsburgh today … even the mayor asked him to stay home, and didn’t accompany him on his little tour. I think he was largely shunned and good enough … he was planning to use his visit there as a photo op.
Hugs!!!

Dear Jill,
His being shunned today by the Pittsburgh officials is a message that he needs to get. Today was not the time to bring himself, a symbol of decisiveness, hate, racism into this Squirrel Hill community as they honor and bury their loved ones. The attention should have been solely in the purview of the Pittsburgh residents.
This was not the time for a photo-op.

Agreed. It’s called ‘good manners’, ‘human decency’, ‘compassion’, all of which he lacks. Hugs!
