It looks like the GOP lawmakers in the US Congress with their donors are now complicit in assisting Russian operatives as they all have been backing the republican President Donald Trump’s attacks against the FBI’s Special Counsel Robert Mueller III and the FBI’s Trump-Russia probe.
This means that they are all doing Russia’s bidding as they continue to attack the ‘rule of law.’ Recently the former FBI Director James Comey voiced the same complaint as he described how he was questioned by GOP members of a US House Committee for hours as he had to debunk over and over again the conspiracy theories they have conjured up regarding Hillary Clinton’s email handling while she was secretary of state and the Steele Dossier.
Afterwards, the press asked Mr. Comey about the president’s supporters questioning how the FBI managed to trick the former National Security Adviser General Mike Flynn into lying to their agents.
Mr. Comey said there was no truth to these claims. He asked “where are the Republican Party members defending the ‘rule of law,’ the FBI and the truth?”

Here’s the rest of the story…
On December 2017, Craig Timberg, Tony Romm and Elizabeth Dwoskin of the Washington Post penned the following report, “Russian disinformation teams targeted Robert S. Mueller III, says report prepared for Senate”
“Months after President Trump took office, Russia’s disinformation teams trained their sights on a new target: special counsel Robert Mueller. Having worked to help get Trump into the White House, they now worked to neutralize the biggest threat to his staying there.”
“The Russian operatives unloaded on Mueller through fake accounts on Facebook, Twitter and beyond, falsely claiming that the former FBI director was corrupt and that the allegations of Russian interference in the 2016 election were crackpot conspiracies. One post on Instagram — which emerged as an especially potent weapon in the Russian social media arsenal — claimed that Mueller had worked in the past with “radical Islamic groups.”
“Such tactics exemplified how Russian teams ranged nimbly across social media platforms in a shrewd online influence operation aimed squarely at American voters. The effort started earlier than commonly understood and lasted longer while relying on the strengths of different sites to manipulate distinct slices of the electorate, according to a pair of comprehensive new reports prepared for the Senate Intelligence Committee and released Monday (12/17/18).”
“One of the reports, written by Oxford University’s Computational Propaganda Project and network analysis firm Graphika, became public when The Washington Post obtained it and published its highlights Sunday. The other report was by social media research firm New Knowledge, Columbia University and Canfield Research.”
“Together the reports describe the Russian campaign with sweep and detail not before available. The researchers analyzed more than 10 million posts and messages on every major social media platform to understand how the Russians used American technology to build a sprawling online disinformation machine, with each piece playing a designated role while supporting the others with links and other connections.”
“The reports also underscore the difficulty of defeating Russian disinformation as operatives moved easily from platform to platform, making the process of detecting and deleting misleading posts impossible for any company to manage on its own.”

Russia’s efforts to sow discord within the USA has been a bit too successful. It’s time that Russia pays a price for its adventurism.
Thanks a million for all of your support and for this reblog.

Gronda, this is not news, but it does add gravitas being part of a formal report. The question which I know the answer to is will people realize that they have, in fact, been duped by this concerted effort by Russia? The answer is of course no, but many have. When I have heard people say this did not affect the election, I do not believe that to be true – of course it did. And, it is affecting people’s perceptions of Mueller, as intended. Keith

Our blogging family had accepted this reality ages ago. But you’re right. Having access to data that proves Russia’s nefarious activities in US politics adds credibility to our assertions.
